May 2017 - Dance recital, Kindergarten Promotion and Swim Team!

May was filled with lots of kids activities and home activities. The great news is we sold our home! I am so sad to leave the home that we brought home our babies BUT I am ready for our family to embark on this new adventure. ITs been beyond stressful to manage the home showings, clean the house and remove the dog with little notice but it was also stressful for us to think about paying for and managing two households. Closing date on the old home is June 20. We will put some of our things in storage and be staying in an apartment in Kingwood for a few months until the new house is ready. Fingers crossed that will be end of August!

We are so lucky to have Jeff, Kristen and Maggie so close by and so involved in our lives. The kids get along so well and have the best time together. Lately Maggie loves coming over and enjoying bath time or as she calls it "splish splashing" with my two kids (sissy and Carter)... so I could not resist taking some cute naked baby pics!

Mags loved movie night - especially the popcorn!

Kids enjoying a story read by Riley

Riley had her end of the year Kindergarten Promotion or graduation at St Martha's. The teacher does what she calls the Candy Bar awards and gives each child candy with a cute saying representing why she chose that candy to go with the specific student. Riley was lucky enough to win the gummy worm award.

"For her interest in insects and lizards. Always catching insects or spotting them on the playground.. the Gummy Worms award goes to RILEY HARRISON"

May is the month for dane recitals. Riley finished her first year at Stacy's dance studio and we could not be happier with the year! She had an amazing teacher Miss Taylor and she really loved the Jazz class. Riley loves to go on stage and preform. We are so proud of our tiny dancer!

I had the opportunity to enjoy a special breakfast with Carter in his class to celebrate mothers day. I enjoyed getting to see his class and meet all of his precious friends.

Swim team... well its a fast and furious 8 weeks but its so much fun. Swim season is 5 day a week practices, lots of volunteer hours, and swim meets every Saturday morning that require us to arrive at the pool at 7 AM. The things we do for our kids! Justin and I did not grow up swimming but its a big deal here in Texas and my kids absolutely love to swim. Its the best swim lessons I can get the kids at the best price! Riley swam last year and really improved and loved it so I knew she would want to do it again. We moved the kids to a new swim team closer to the new house in Kingwood called the Village Otters. The practice times are more working mom friendly and the pool is really close to the kids school.Carter expressed an interest - as he does in almost everything his sister does - but his swimming was not quite good enough to make the team.  We spent a few weekends in the pool working really hard and to our surprise they gave Carter a chance and put him on the team! HE was beyond excited. Our intent for putting Carter on the team was just for him to get the practice and not to compete in the meets but the team had other plans... they really felt like it is part of the experience to compete and get race exposure. Carter was only ready to compete in the 25 Freestyle race - he was not comfortable enough to compete in backstroke yet. Riley swims a 25 freestyle, a 25 backstroke, is on the 6 and under freestyle relay team and during most meets her freestyle time qualified her for the 8 and under relay team.

Here is a video of one of Riley's freestyles - she is in the lane to the far left of the screen - this is a VERY fast time for her 23 seconds - she killed this swim... you can hear me and her coach yelling... yes i am that mom!

Below are more just random pictures from the month. Things around here are busy and super stressful lately but we are happy, healthy and beyond blessed. My kids are growing up so fast but I am so proud of them!
