Mardi Gras in New Orleans!

This year Justin and I decided it would be a ton of fun to take the kids to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. We thoughts the kids are now the right age to understand and enjoy all the festivities. We took off work on a Friday and headed to New Orleans to see the Eve parade in Mandeville Friday and then hit Caesar in Metairie Saturday. Billy and Caroline decided to make the trip too so the kids were extra excited. This year we did not make it in town for Christmas so it was a great excuse for us to have some fun and spend time with the family. Prior to our visit the kids and I read some books about Mardi Gras and looked at pictures online but really they had no idea what to expect. The weather was perfect on Friday night so we were able to walk around, see the floats and enjoy the parade. We did not have a ladder but the kids had a blast sitting on shoulders and yelling at the floats. They were pretty exhausted from our trip but hung in there pretty well considering. Saturday we got up early and headed to Metairie to have a nice lunch with the family, visit with Grandma and Grandpa and head out to the parade. For the Caesar parade we had a great spot with ladders for the kids to sit in and catch beads. Carter was not the biggest fan of the ladder but Riley and Caroline loved it. The kids enjoyed spending a lot of time with their cousin Alexis and all our family. The trip was a whirlwind but it was so much fun! The kids still talk about the parades and want to go back again. Thanks to all the family for the hospitality!
