The Harrison Family: February Fun

February was a crazy month! Justin left for 2 weeks for a work trip to Russia. Luckily Granny and Paw Paw were able to come into town and spend some time with us. February is a busy month with both Carter, Caroline and Nanny having birthday. Caroline had an awesome Frozen birthday party at a bounce house place and the kids had a blast.

Riley is starting Kindergarten this fall and I am still in disbelief that she is this old. Justin and I started our school research 2 years ago looking at the options in our area and trying to figure out what we think would be the best choice for Riley. We have fallen in love with a Catholic School in Kingwood named St Marthas. The school is a small Catholic school that has 44 kindergarten spots. The enrollment process allows those that have gone to preschool there first, then those with siblings next, then open enrollment. Open enrollment day Justin went to the school at 3 AM to try and get a spot. He was the first one in line (only by 10 min) but we are first on the weight list. So frustrating but we are hopeful that someone will drop out or move so we can get our girl a spot!

Other than that the kids are doing fantastic. School is going well for both of them. Riley is a phenomenal reader and her writing continues to get better. She is now keeping her letters in the lines which is a big improvement. She shows a lot of interest in math and does very well with her addition and subtraction (I am hoping she is like her daddy). Carter has really excelled in the new class. Miss Vanessa says he wants to do all the 5 year old work and is less interested in the 3 year old work. My little guy for some reason is in such a hurry to grow up and be like his big sister! He has learned all his sounds and does very well recognizing them. He loves working puzzles and bringing art work home to put on mommy's fridge!
