Carters 2nd Birthday

On Carters actual birthday we decided to have a family day. Justin and I try to take vacation from work on the kids actual birthdays, attend their school "celebration of life" and then take them out of school for a day of fun. Last year Carter got sick on his birthday so we had lots of making up to do! We thought about taking just Carter out of school but given the kids are so close and have such a great time together, we figured Carter would have more fun if Riley came along and played with us for the day. That morning we woke up, brought the kids to school and I ran home and made Carters favorite Betty Crocker Blueberry Muffins. We arrived with treats to his class at 9:30. We got to talk to the class about Carter and sing "the Earth goes round the sun" twice for Carter's two years. Surprisingly Carter was not too interested in being the center of attention... he just wanted to eat the blueberry muffins. In tradition Justin read the class a book (Pete the cat The Wheels on the Bus) with Carter sitting on his lap. After the story Carter was finally able to break into the muffins and share them with his friends. After we said our thank you's to Carter's teacher Ms Ana for the special celebration we took both kids out of school and headed to Jumpalooza to have some fun as a family. Nanny and baby Maggie were even able to meet us there and join in the fun! Jumpalooza is a huge place filled with fun inflatables for kids to jump, climb and slide on. They are super fun and Justin and I like it because we can join in the fun too! My kiddos do not have much fear and tackle any and all the inflatables in the entire place. Since it was a weekday most kids were in school so we had the place to ourselves! There was one inflatable that had a red power ranger blow up and Carter was a little intimidated by the power ranger. He kept saying, "mom the man is scary!". The next day when his teacher aid Ms Samina asked him how his birthday was he said it was "good but the man scared me!" After hours of running, jumping and playing we went to Lupe's the kids favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch. After lunch we headed to grab ice cream for desert! After a good nap we took Carter to see Dr Smoot for his 2 year checkup. Carter is 28 pounds and 34 inches (50th percentile in height and weight) and his head is 18.01 inches. The Dr was very impressed with Carters language and could not believe he was already speaking in complete sentences. She also was very happy to hear that we are working on the potty training... even though we still have a long way to go! Overall it was a great day and I could not be happier with my sweet, healthy, and happy 2 year old!
