October/November fun!

October and November have been fun for the Harrison's! Halloween is always one of my favorite holidays with the kids. I have made the kids costumes each year and I have been pretty pleased with how they have turned out. This year I decided we would go with Tinker Bell and Peter Pan. The kids bought into the idea (although Riley would have LOVED to be like the thousands of other Elsa's). I thought the costumes turned out cute but Carter decided he did not want to wear the hat that I spent so much time making! The kids school had their annual Fall Festival charity event that benefits the Make a Wish Foundation on Halloween which worked out perfect. We dressed the kids took them to school to play with friends and enjoy the festival, went out for pizza and then started the trick or treating fun! Here are some of my pictures:

In terms of school the kids are doing GREAT! In November we have the parent teacher conferences so we get a full on report of how our kids are progressing. Riley's behavior has gotten much better so we are thrilled with her progress. Academically she is and has been far exceeding our expectations. She is currently working on writing her 4 letter words from a picture. Her teacher gives her a picture and asks her to sound it out and write the word. She is doing basic addition and subtraction and so far she has done well with that. I am hoping she gets her daddy's math skills! Her teacher was extremely pleased with Riley's reading so that was fantastic to hear. Overall Riley is one smart cookie and we could not be prouder of her accomplishments! Here are some Riley photos

Carter is still as cute and sweet as ever! He is growing so fast and continues to impress me with how much he knows. We went to his teacher conference and we were blown away. His teacher was very complimentary of his language. She said that he speaks better than the older kids and that meant a lot to us coming from her. She said that he is very smart and takes  very little time to learn something. He has only been in Montissory since July and his growth and learning is unreal. He currently knows all his ABC's (in letters and sounds), can count to 20 in english and 10 in spanish, knows all his colors in  english and spanish, and knows his shapes (even the tough ones like pentagon and hexagon). He knows his days of the weeks and months of the year. Carter even does well with recognition... so I can write a number or letter and he can tell me  what it is. He is just an incredible little guy and I love watching him continue to learn so much. He is a typical boy that loves to run, play ball, and of course EAT. He loves his sister but is learning how to stand his ground because she loves to boss him around.  He is super sweet and loves to give hugs and kisses. I could not be prouder of the little boy he is becoming.

Of course we had a HUGE family event this month... the birth of Maggie Jane Renton! We were all so excited and could not wait for Nanny to bring us Maggie. The kids are over the moon with their new cousin! They want to hold her all the time... yes both of them! Carter puts his arms out and says... "Carter hold her?" and Riley just kisses and loves on her as much as she can. The kids keep asking when Maggie can play! I love that we have a new baby in the family and that she is so close we get to see her all the time! Here are some photos of Maggie's arrival.
