Carter is 9 months old!

My baby is 9 months old! There are a number of reasons this is so hard for me. First, its my baby... and he is already 9 months. Second, I have only one more month as a stay at home mom. While I think Carter is ready to start school (he is EXTREMELY attached to his momma) its still hard to think that soon I will not be able to spend my days with my handsome little man. We went to see the Doctor this week for his 9 month checkup. Carter weighs 19 pounds 7 ounces and is 28 inches long (~47th percentile). Luckily this visit we did not get any shots but I know next visit we will not be so lucky.  Overall Dr Smoot was very complimentary of our happy little boy! We got the green light on starting table food so we have been trying peas and carrots and Carter seems to enjoy them. He still eats pretty much anything and is happy as long as he is eating. He is still pulling up on everything and crawling super fast. He is babbling and says da da very well. He is getting four new teeth right now so biting has started. The other day we were walking out of CVS and he just leaned over and bit my shoulder! He is still obsessed with his sister and Luca and lights up when either of them walk in the room.

We had our first parent teacher conference for Riley in the big kid room this week. I was anxious to meet with the teacher to see how Riley is progressing in her new environment. Riley's teach Mrs. April is awesome and spent a lot of time with Justin and I explaining what they are working on and what we can do to help work with Riley at home. Ms April was extremely complementary of Riley's manners which made us both Very proud! Since Riley is not yet three she said she is working with Riley on staying focused on a task for more than 5 minutes. She mentioned this is an age issue and expects Riley to grow out of this soon. Riley knows her sounds but we are working on getting her to see a picture (without the word) and see if she can identify the sound that the picture starts with. This is part of the starting to read process. I am still amazed at the things they are teaching these kids. Who knew that kids could learn this much stuff before they turn three???? Overall the teacher had no concerns with Riley and said she is advanced for her age. Justin and I could not be happier!

We took family photos last weekend and I am very happy with how they turned out. I took pictures of the family and I also took photos of Riley in my wedding dress. I have seen the proofs and they are great! I cannot wait to get the pictures. Checking things off my list... Christmas cards... DONE! Now, working on Riley's third birthday... party is a month away!

Justin is leaving on Monday for his two week trip to Russia. The kids and I will be heading to New Orleans to see the family. We are all very excited to see everyone! Say some extra prayers for my 10 hours of travel time with two kids and a dog!
