Carter is one month!

Carter is already a month... I think time flies faster with baby number 2 than it did with baby # 1! It has been a fun month. Carter is still a great baby! The only concern we have had with him is his weight gain. A little history:
  • Carter was born at 8 pounds 12 ounces
  • He left the hospital weighing 8 pounds 1 ounce
  • At our first doctor visit (2-9-2013) he weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces
  • 2-12-2013 - 7 pounds 10 ounces
  • 2-15-2013 - 7 pounds 13 ounces
  • 2-19-2013 - 8 pounds 1 ounce
  • 2-25-2013 - 8 pounds 5 ounces
  • 3-4-2013 - 8 pounds 4 ounces
He was increasing weight each week until last week and the doctors were not pleased. Typically babies should be back at birth weight within 2 weeks of life and as you can see we missed that milestone. The Doctor was not overly concerned given the large amount of weight he lost and said she was comfortable as long as he gained half an ounce a day. When he dropped weight the past week the doctor was concerned and we developed an aggressive feeding plan and I had to return on Wednesday (3-6-2013) for another weight check. Wednesday he had gained and was up to 8 pounds 9 ounces! I was pleased and so was the doctor. We are going to continue going to our weekly weight checks until Carter starts really packing on the pounds. I think he is a very lazy eater and so does the doctor at this point. I am saying my prayers that is the only problem and he will grow out of it.

Besides Carters weight things are pretty amazing. Riley is still doing fantastic and still loves her brother. She is mommy's little helper! She helps me with diaper changes and his baths. If he cries she runs and gets him a pacifier and shoves it in his mouth. She is one excellent big sister! Riley is still doing fantastic in school and amazes me with how much she knows. Her favorite things lately are dump trucks and firetrucks. I think I have a tomboy! She still loves to read and really likes to sing and dance. I am looking into dance lessons now for her and cannot wait for her to start that! Potty training is still in progress and is slow and steady. She is using the potty but we have to ask her if she wants to go and sometimes its a struggle. She does better at school than she does at home but I hear thats pretty normal. When she is ready we will get there!

Here are some photos and a video.

Riley dancing... she does not have a shirt on because she spilled water on herself.
