Riley's Second Birthday, Christmas and Big Girl Bed!

Riley turned 2 on December 20 so Justin and I went to her school for a celebration of life that morning and then had a Harrison Family Fun day by taking Riley to the aquarium. We finished our day with play time at Chick Fil A. We all had a great time! After her nap we gave her a ride on horse for her birthday and had nanny and uncle Jeff over for some dinner and as Riley calls them "k-cups" (i.e. cupcakes).  Here are some photos from her school party and our day:

At my party - mom made blueberry muffins for me and my friends to enjoy

Mom and dad had to make a poster for my celebration of life with pictures of me and my family. I enjoyed showing it off to all my friends at school

This year was a Renton family Christmas! We had Riley's 2nd set of ear tubes put in and her adenoids removed on Friday December 21 - and left for New Orleans on Saturday night December 22. The surgery for Riley's tubes and adenoids was amazing, I could not have asked for a better procedure. Riley did so well and did not cry one time! She woke up from the anesthesia, asked the nurse to take out her IV and we were on our way. I am so glad that is behind me and I am hoping and praying this is the last time Riley has to have tubes or deal with an ear infection. Our drive to New Orleans was good but Riley took awhile to go to sleep and once we got to my parents house she was wide awake. It took us a good 2 hours to get her back to sleep. Needless to say for the pregnant momma this was not amusing. Christmas day Riley had a blast with her cousins and extended family. She was exhausted when it was over as a nap was not in the cards Christmas day. We tried to nap early but Riley was not having it and made her first successful jump out of the crib. Good thing we have her big girl bed! Christmas night the entire Renton family was in Mandeville and needless to say that was a night to remember. Riley went to sleep ok but then when she heard mom get up to go the bathroom  at midnight it was all over. I have not slept in the same room as her since she was an infant and with Me, daddy and Luca all in the same room, there was way too much going on for her to sleep. She would not go back to bed and wanted to play. After 2 hours of trying everything to get her to go back to bed I told Justin we have to get on the road and head home and so at 3 AM we began our voyage back to Texas. Riley slept the majority of the way home and we brought her to daycare so Justin and I could finally get some rest. All in all it was a great trip but being 34 weeks pregnant, travel is hard and I am glad to be home! Here are some photos:

Since we have been home we have been working with Riley on transitioning to her big girl room and potty training. Last night was her first night in her big girl room and I was so nervous. She went in the bed by herself but kept asking her daddy and I to lay down with her. After our experience during the holidays I knew that she does not sleep with anyone in bed with her. She tried negotiating for an hour trying to come up with every excuse why she needed to get out of bed but finally we bit the bullet and shut the door. She cried for 5 min got out of bed then crawled right back in and went to sleep. She slept from 8:30 - 7! She was so proud when she woke up the next morning! One night down but I am very pleased with her progress! Now off to work on potty training!

First morning waking up in the big girl bed! I sept from 8:30 - 7!

Riley and daddy, so proud of our big girl!
