Things around here have been going well, Justin and I are officially off work until 2013! Its time for us to take care of all the things we do not have time to do when we are working! Unfortunately last week Riley got an ear infection so that has thrown our vacation plans for a loop. Since Riley has had 2 ear infections in a month, we are going to do the ear tube surgery again. I am not looking forward to it but I know Riley benefited from it the first time and I cannot bear to have her suffer from ear infections again and keep her living on antibiotics. So next Friday December 21, we will have the surgery. This time we are doing tubes and removing the adenoids. I have heard from many mom friends that the adenoids are the way to go so between my mom friends that have been there, the ENT and the GP I have gotten myself comfortable with our plan of attack. I hate to put Riley through the surgery the day after her birthday and right before Christmas but its the only time I can get it done while we are off work and the doctor is available. Keep us in your prayers on the 21st! I know from experience this is harder on me than it is on Riley. Being a parent is not easy but we have to do whats best for our kids! So next week will be a week filled with doctors visits between Riley's pre op visit, surgery, 2 year checkup we will be keeping ourselves busy!
Last night Riley had her school Christmas program. It was really cute, the kids wore antlers and sang some christmas songs for their parents and friends. Riley sings all the time but when she had that many spectators, she did not preform quite as well as I thought she would. Overall she did well and I was very impressed at how many christmas songs she actually knows the words! It is so fun to see her at school and interacting with her friends. We are still very pleased with her school and looking forward to seeing the new things she learns. Justin was playing with her this week and he drew a diamond and Riley said, "daddy a rhombus!" For those that don't know: a rhombus (◊), plural rhombi or rhombuses, is a simple (non-self-intersecting) quadrilateral whose four sides all have the same length. Another name is equilateral quadrilateral, since equilateral means that all of its sides are equal. The rhombus is often called a diamond, after the diamonds suit in playing cards. She truly is amazing us daily!
Here are some photos from some of our latest outings:
