Riley is 20 months.. its even hard to type that. She is a walking, running, talking, playing, ball of energy. Her favorite things these days are coloring, playing outside and swimming. We have been taking her for walks lately and she just loves to wander around the green trail in our neighborhood and name all the colors and all the things that she sees. Sometimes we get lucky and see some ducks and she loves to quack at them. All things in Riley's world that are bug like and crawl are beetles and all things that fly are either birds or bees. She is into her colors and loves to name the color of everything. Most of the time her first guess on everything is either yellow or blue but she is giving it a good try! She is still doing great at school although according to her teacher she is having a hard time expressing herself. When people take toys from her or do something she does not like she at times lashes out by biting. I was extremely concerned when I heard this but the teacher assured me that all kids go through this phase. She told me that she will grow out of it and that when she does it, which is not that often, they stop her and tell her what she did was wrong and why she cannot do that and then make her hug the friend she has bitten. Hopefully this works! She has been battling a pretty brutal diaper rash for a few weeks so I have started the potty training. I am not sure she is old enough but after three antibiotic diaper rash ointments and it keeps coming back I am thinking this might be my only hope. We are not forcing the issue, just giving it a try and seeing what happens. She is still doing great at her school and we could not be happier with her progress. Now when I drop her off she waves at me and says bye bye mommy... and if I am lucky she will even blow me a kiss. Its a great way to start my mornings!
