Surgery Week

Riley has started swimming lessons at our local FINS. She loves the swim lessons! They are teaching her how to float and move her arms in the water and she is doing very well. Class is only 30 min and thats a good thing because Riley's attention span is not that great. She gets very distracted! Here are a few photos from swim lessons.

This Friday at Riley's school they had a muffins with mom Luau. It was a lot of fun to go to Riley's school and have breakfast with her. I got my first mom craft as a gift too! It is front and center on my desk at work! She made me a vase with a flower in it that has her photo. So cute! Here are some photos of us from our muffins with mom event.

Grandma came to town to visit the girls!

This week Riley will get the ear tubes. I am ready for this all to be over with but I guess I would not be normal if I was not nervous. I just want my little one to fell better and not have to deal with the pain of ear infections. I am hoping that we can stay healthy between not and May 17 - Surgery day. We went and visited the ENT last week and we really liked him. He was very helpful and did a lot of explaining. Basically Riley's ear is constantly filled with fluid because her Eustachian tube is much shorter and is angled. It is therefore much easier for bacteria to migrate from the nose and throat up into the middle ear space. As Riley grows this tube should becomes more vertical, so germs have to travel "up hill" to reach the middle ear.  It is very likely Riley will "outgrow" ear infections but we need to tubes until she does. She is hearing things the same way I would hear things underwater. This helps me understand why she is not that articulate and is not making a lot of clear words. I am hopeful after the tubes we will have more talking and no ear infections! The below picture helped me understand.
