Ear tubes are in

So we finally did it, Riley has ear tubes. It was a tough decision and a difficult day for mostly me and Justin but all in all we are done. So we went see the Dr on Monday the 14th and he checked her ears and we registered at the hospital. All looked good and he asked us to arrive at the hospital at 6 AM on Thursday the 17th. Justin and I got up early, loaded the car and woke Riley up with the car running outside and took off. We made it to the hospital right on time at 6AM. I thought we would wake Riley up and she would fall back asleep in the car but she did not. She was still in a good mood so we did not mind. I thought they would take her back immediately but just my luck on the day of surgery they were short a nurse so Justin and I were in a waiting room full of other people and had a toddler that was not fed and bored out of her mind. We did everything we could to entertain her for the hour and 15 min it took to wait for the nurse to arrive. All the while Riley was running around the waiting room using her sign language to anyone she could find asking them for MILK or saying she was hungary. The nurse finally arrived and took Riley back. When we went back they gave Riley some medicine they called loopy juice that would relax her. Immediately after she took the medicine she was calm and waving at all the doctors and nurses in the hospital. The anesthesiologist came and talked to me and Justin and answered all of our questions. She happened to also be a Florida Gator so her and Justin exchanged UF stories. After a few minutes of talking to doctors and signing papers they asked us to go to the waiting room and took Riley back for surgery. They had Riley for 15 min. The doctor came into the waiting room and talked to Justin and I. He told us the surgery went well but when he went into her right ear he found that it was severely infected and was about to rupture. That confirmed to me we were right to do the surgery. Thursday would have been like my Thursday two weeks ago when I got the call that Riley had a 103 fever ad I had to rush to daycare to get her and then make another hospital visit. I was amazed that on Monday she had no infection and just 3 days later he said it was sever and about to rupture. Well he drained her ear, put in the tubes and we were allowed to go back and see our baby. When we went back Riley was still sleeping and had the oxygen mask on. That was a scary sight. I hated to see my little on in a hospital bed but the second the nurse removed the mask Riley woke up. Riley was confused and was looking around scared. We put her in the car and she was very upset. She cried most of the way home and it just broke my heart. When we got home we fed her and she acted like nothing was wrong. She was back to her playful old self. She napped that day just like usual and we all in all had a great day. Here are some photos from surgery day. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers! Besides a diaper rash from her antibiotics so far so good!
