I have not been posting lately... sorry this is my busy season at work and in the little bit of free time I have, Riley has been keeping us busy. She is still growing like a weed... she is 25 pounds now! She is great with walking and running and she LOVES to climb... anything and everything! Her favorite activities are driving in her car (little tykes cozy coupe), drawing outside with sidewalk chalk and of course blowing bubbles. She loves going for bike rides and walks in her wagon. The weather has been nice so we have been making as many trips to the park as we can. She is talking a lot but not making much sense. She says... CA for car... she says CAULK for Chalk... and she says bubbles. She will scream mom... or dad... when she is upset or needs something.. but does not use those words often. She says Up and Uh oh... when she does something she should not do. Her eating has gotten better but her appetite is hit or miss. She loves noodles so we have been eating a lot of those.
Justin had to go out of town for work this past week so my mom came down to help for a few days. She could not have come too soon because while she was driving on Friday, daycare called to say Riley was fussy and has fluid coming out of her ear. I knew what that was... so on Saturday morning we took her to the Dr and got an antibiotic for an ear infection in the right ear. My mom left and on Thursday I got a call from the daycare saying I Had to hurry, Riley had a 103 fever so off to the dr we went again. Thursday they said her right ear looked better but her left ear was infected. So the Dr concluded that the antibiotic that Riley was currently on was no longer working so we got yet another antibiotic. The Dr told me its time for us to see the ENT. We have been on 4-5 different antibiotics since the beginning of the year and Riley is starting to become resistant to them. This child for the most part is pretty healthy, the only issues we have are ear infections! I have dreaded the moment that they would send me to the ENT and of course it would happen when Justin is out of town. On Thursday night, Riley was up at 5 AM fussing and had a 104.5 fever. She was shaking and I was a nervous wreck. After some Ibuprofen it went down. I stayed home with her Friday and she was fine as long as she had ibuprofen in her. Same thing Friday night, woke up as soon as the medicine wore off about 5am and was hot as hell. Last night was the first night we had a full nights sleep and she woke up in a great mood and was not feverish! I am hoping that this means the medicine is working and we are knocking out the latest infection. With this last infection, I think I am coming to grips with the ear tubes. I cannot stand seeing her this unhappy and in this much pain. Friday we go to the ENT and I am certain from that point he will schedule the procedure. All my mom friends say its the greatest thing ever. I really hope this helps Riley! Here are some of our recent photos....
