February 2017 - Father daughter dance, Carters 4th birthday, Steps for Students and Mardi Gras

February was another busy but fun month for our family. Justin took Riley to a father daughter dance they had at our gym Lifetime Fitness. They went with some friends of ours and had a blast. Justin took Riley to get her hair and nails done before and she thought that was so much fun. We had recently watched our wedding video with the kids and she has wanted to have her hair curled like mine was for the wedding so she finally got it. She had so much fun on this special night with her dad! I hope this is the start of a new tradition!

Carter was upset he did not get a chance to go to the dance but we had our own mommy and son date night. He got to choose all the events for the night. We had a great night filled with swimming in the hot tub, riding bikes and watching a movie. It was a fun night for some quality mommy son time!

Carter came down with Strep throat this month. Poor guy! He woke up and told me his throat hurt and had a fever so I knew it was strep. I made a Dr apt for him first thing in the morning and was planning to drive Riley to school and take Carter to the Dr. On the way to school in traffic Carter started throwing up and of course I had nothing in the car. He threw up on me and on him. We got Riley to school 2 minutes tardy which meant I had to go into school with her covered in vomit while Carter was in the car throwing up. We did not have time to go change before our Dr apt so Carter and I headed to the Dr covered in throw up. Dr confirmed my diagnosis of strep but unfortunately did not have any of the shot so we had to go to the drug store to get our script filled. I walked in the pharmacy covered in vomit and with a lifeless Carter and begged the technician to fill our script so I could get him home. 45 minutes later Carter started vomiting again in the store and of course vomited on me again. After that they made our prescription a priority and we were able to go home. It was a long day for the both of us!

Carter turned 4 this month! I cannot believe my little guy is already 4! Because of the school change and all the chaos in our lives we decided to not throw a party and just celebrate as a family. We had a great time and are so blessed with an amazing little boy.

The Diocese here host a steps for students fundraiser for all the Catholic Schools. All the schools in the diocese participate and run a 5K to raise money. We decided to run the race as a family and the kids had so much fun. A 5K is a pretty long distance and I was not sure how the kids would do. I was so proud of both of them as they worked so hard and did so great! It was fun and something we will for sure do again!

Its spring soccer season and Riley wanted to pay again this year. Her coach and most of her team from last season are playing together so its a great group. They are the blue angels this year and they are doing so well! She is getting much better and really enjoys playing.

As part of Carters birthday month we decided to take him to see the monster trucks. He is really into cars and trucks and we thought he would really enjoy it. We had dinner with some friends and took them to see the monster trucks. He had so much fun but was really disappointed that he did not get a chance to ride in the truck.

Mardi Gras is always a tough time for us being so far from home. This year the kids school told us that they would be participating in a parade in Kingwood and asked if anyone wanted to ride on the float. We jumped at that opportunity! The kids had so much fun riding with friends from school. The parade was small but there were a ton of people on the route yelling for beads! The kids thew so much at the beginning that they ran out of throws but they loved it!
