End of Summer and Sea World

The summer is finally coming to an end. We have had a busy but amazing summer! I took Riley out of dance for the summer and enrolled her in swim lessons. My goal for her was to be able to swim in the water without floaties. I was lucky enough to find a college kid home for the summer that came to the house once a week and gave her lessons for an hour. He was fantastic with Riley and he did what I wanted him to do! At this point she does not wear floaties ever and swims all over the pool. I am so proud of her and how much she learned!

Carter was super jealous ever Saturday that he did not get to swim with his sissy so I would take him upstairs and we would watch sissy swim from the window. Carter was always so proud of her and would cheer for her from the window. He is so sweet and just loves his sister!

Carter loves to swim. He has a little tube that he wears and he just swims the entire length of the pool. I am hopeful that next summer I can get him into private lessons too.

This week we had Carter's 18 month checkup. He weighed in at 25 pounds 10 ounces and is 2' 8 1/4". Dr Smoot was very pleased with his growth. By this age she wanted him to have about 10 words... Carter has way more than that! She was very impressed with his language development. He was even singing songs to her. He got a few shots and his flu shot but he took those pretty well. Luckily he is done with shots (except his annual flu shot) until he is 4!

On Friday August 22, the kids school was closed for a teacher workday.. the school year for them starts Monday. Justin and I decided that it would be nice to take a road trip as a family and head to San Antonio to spend the day at Sea World. I think we were a little crazy given it is so hot this time of the year but since we were all off school and work we figured it was a good time to give it a try. The kids had a blast at Sea World. We were able to see all the shows and even have lunch with the killer whales. It was super hot but luckily there was a lot of shade so the kids were troopers! We ended our day with an awesome dinner on the river walk.  Here are some photos from our weekend adventure.

Just arrived at Sea World.. ready for fun!
