Carter Man turns 1!

The day has finally come...my little guy is no longer a newborn... he is 1! He weighs 23 pounds 2 ounces and is 29.25 inches tall. The first year with Carter is full of so many amazing memories and he has blessed my family so much in only a year. We had so much to celebrate! Justin and I had planned to take the day off of work on his actual birthday to take him to do something fun and I planned to take the Friday before his party off to get all the final details for his party finished. Well in typical Harrison family luck... Carter got his first fever the day before his birthday and he was sick the ENTIRE week. Monday he started with a fever so we went to the Dr thinking it would be something we could get an antibiotic for and continue on with our celbrations. They flu tested and strep tested him and both were negative. We were given the typical its a virus that has to run its course and sent on our way with a dosage chart for over the counter infant tylenol. By Wednesday he was still consistently running a fever and when he woke up from his nap he was so hot, I took his temperature and it was 106. I freaked out and brought him back to the doctor. The doctor rechecked him and ordered blood work and a chest x ray just to continue to look for the cause of the fever. Everything came back normal which confirmed the doctors suspicion that Carter had a respiratory virus. That virus took him out for a week, but thankfully he is all better.

On to the positives... we threw Carter a Mardi Gras themed party since he is my Mardi Gras baby! We threw the party at the house and the weather turned out to be fantastic!. I think Carter enjoyed his party even though he was still a little under the weather. Granny and Paw Paw we able to come in and celebrate with us! We had fajitas, delicious red velvet cake and king cake and great company! Carter did much better at smashing the cake than Riley did! He seemed to enjoy his cake and did not make too much of a mess!

Carter is really getting the hang of walking. He is now to the point that he prefers to walk than crawl. he still is quite clumsy but he falls and gets right back up. He is still is complete adoration of his older sister and wants to do everything that she does. He does not want to eat any baby food anymore, I guess he thinks he is too old for that... so we are working on the table food thing. He loves bread and scrambled eggs and we are working on fruits and vegatables. It was much easier to feed him when he ate babyfood.

Things with Riley have been going great. I think she is testing boundaries lately but what kid at this age doesn't right? At times it becomes so hard to stick to our guns and discipline her but I know its for the better and so far Justin and I have not backed down. Overall she is a great kid and we know we are very lucky. She is doing great at school and really doing well with her reading. She reads the Pre-K books in the Steps to read series and is doing very well. Her teacher says once we can get her attention span to hold a little longer, she thinks she can have Riley reading at a kindegarten level. She still LOVES the disney princesses and we spend a lot of our time playing dress up. I took her to a local princess party and she had a blast! They had a stretch pink limo for the girls to ride in and they even had the kids do a fashion show in their best princess dresses. That was right up her alley!

Other than that things around here are hectic as usual... we spend a lot of time playing outside and keeping busy with our work and kids social schedules. Here are some photos and some videos of the babies:
