The Harrison Family: Welcome Carter Joseph Harrison

Justin and I were blessed with a perfect baby boy at 11:25 AM on February 4, 2013. He weighed a whopping 8 pounds 12 ounces and was 20 & 1/4 inches long. Justin and I were so shocked at his size... we did not expect him to be that big! We checked into the hospital on Sunday night and laid in bed watching the super bowl. The next morning the nurse came in and said wow, this baby will be here before lunch and things just progressed rapidly from there. I was able to get an epidural early in the morning so labor was painless. I was very happy that I did not have to wait as long with Carter as I did with Riley. So far he has been very laid back and I am hoping he will stay that way! He has a full head of brown hair (very similar to what Riley had at birth) and the chubbiest cheeks! He eats well and is extremely snuggly which we love! My mom and Jeff and Kristen were HUGE helps while Justin and I were in the hospital. They held things down at home with Riley and the dog so that Justin and I could focus on our new little man. It is a ton of work taking care of a two year old and I am so grateful that I have such an amazing family to help me out in times like this. Jeff and Kristen are the best aunt and Uncle/ godparents we could ever ask for our daughter. Riley adores them and they are completely smitten with her. I am blessed beyond measure that I have such an amazing brother and he married such an amazing woman.

We decided that we did not want Riley to come to the hospital as there are a lot of things going around and I did not want to freak her out seeing me in the hospital. We came home yesterday and introduced the two for the first time and it was priceless. Riley wanted to hold and kiss him constantly. She was truly smitten by him and Justin and I were so proud of her. I am sure the two will have the typical sibling love hate relationship but for now we are enjoying the excitement.

Thanks to all for the thoughts, prayers and well wishes. I am recovering well and besides the standard sleep deprivation we are all doing well!
