Sorry I have not posted since Halloween but I think time is flying by, I cannot believe we are almost to Christmas and my baby's second birthday party! People said time would fly but I never thought it would go by this fast. Within the next 12 weeks I will have a two year old and a newborn!
I will try and hit the high points of our past month. First, I will start with the not so good news... Riley got her first ear infection since April the week before Christmas. I was not a happy camper! She started with a fever and kept telling me her ear hurt (which she has never done) so I brought her to the Dr and sure enough she had an infection in one ear. The Dr told me her tubes are still in the ear but are not functioning properly so I put her on the antibiotic and immediately made an appointment with the ENT. We have learned our lesson on ear infections and the ENT has more sophisticated equipment to help us understand whats going on with Riley's tubes. We went last week and he told us her tubes are out of her ears. We have to see him again at the end of December to see if she still has fluid in her ears. If she has fluid in her ears after a month of no ear infection we will have to replace the tubes. This time he will also want to take out the adenoids. I am not looking forward to this but we will see what the Dr says next month. I do not want to put Riley through all those ear infections and antibiotics so we will say some prayers and see what happens.
Enough of the bad news, now for some of the better things going on.... We had Riley's first parent teacher conference at her school this week. Justin and I were not sure what to expect and had no idea they formally evaluate the kids. They tested Riley on her numbers, letters, sounds, etc... and the teacher could not stop complimenting us on how smart she is. She told Justin and I that she is testing the same they would expect to see a 4 year old test. She knows her number 1-10 in english and spanish, can sing her alphabet, knows all her colors, knows all the months of the year, days of the week and most impressively can identify all the sounds. Justin and I could not be more proud of our little girl! I knew she was smart but it means something more when her teacher tells us! She has developed so much at this school and continues to amaze Justin and I with everything she knows. Next milestone will be completing the potty training.
We had a week long visit from my parents "ganny" and "pa pa" as Riley calls them. She adores them and has so much fun when they come. She gets so excited to show them the moon and anything else she happens to notice. While my parents were here we got Riley her big girl furniture and started decorating her big girl room. I am not ready to have her sleep in her big girl bed (mostly because I am scared) but we are almost there on having the room ready. Its really cute and she really seems to like it.
Riley is singing and talking pretty much nonstop She is at a great age and we are enjoying every minute of her! We are getting excited for her birthday party next weekend and Christmas with the Renton family!
My Friend Stef took some awesome family photos of us for our annual Christmas card. She did a great job! Here are a few of my favorites...
