Since the ear tubes Riley has been feeling great and thankfully we have not had to head to the doctor nearly as much as we used to. Starting last Thursday (June 14) Riley began throwing up. We went through our entire fathers day weekend with vomiting everything out of her system. The doctor tested her for Strep and that came back negative and then of course told us it was a virus that we would have to let run its course. We were prescribed Zofran, an anti nausea drug that did help the vomiting subside but then of course caused the awful side effect of constipation. She went back to daycare and we slowly weaned her off the medicine and started her back on milk and other foods. She did fine from Monday to Thursday but by Thursday night she started vomiting again. Friday morning she woke up with a fever so Justin stayed home with her and took her to the Dr. They did another strep test and checked her for a urinary track infection (which Justin said was brutal to watch) and we came up with nothing. She is just very lethargic and is really not acting like herself. Yesterday she had milk and we ran errands and everything was fine but she would not eat much. I just thought she was not hungry and a little afraid to eat after what she has been through. Jeff and Kristen babysat for her so we could go to our friends going away dinner and in the hour they had her she had a diaper blowout and vomited all over. Jeff and Kristen handled it like pros! I felt so bad for both them and Riley. Today she is just wandering around and switching between laying on me and Justin. I really hope my little girl starts to feel better soon. I have never heard a virus lasting this long!
In other news we are heading to New Orleans on Thursday and then taking our first family trip to the beach. I am very hopeful that Riley feels better so she can enjoy this trip! We have all been super busy and can use some rest and relaxation! We have also finally made the decision to change Riley's school. When we return from vacation (July 6) Riley will start at Atascocita Montissory school. THis was not an easy decision for Justin and I but I feel like it will be the right one for Riley. Kids are Kids (her current school) we really have liked. The teachers have been great and Riley has learned a lot. Riley is a lot like her daddy and resistant to change. In Kids are Kids she changes classrooms every 6 months and RIley has a hard time with that. She also has 5 teachers in each room and it takes her awhile to get used to them and get comfortable with them. We have liked the teachers she has had thus far but this last transition has been rough on all of us. The teachers in this room are new and just seem to do more babysitting then they do teaching. Riley has been bitten a number of times and I Just feel an overall lack of structure and control. When visiting the new school I had a completely different impression. The new school Riley's room will have kids 18 months - 3 years old. The class is designed that the younger kids learn form the older kids. The class only has 2 teachers a lead and then 1 assistant. I like that Riley will have a chance to bond with these teachers and be with them for awhile. They also have much more structure than what I feel like the teachers have at kids are kids. Justin and I were both very impressed with their curriculum. None of us are all that great with change but this is one thing that I hope we are get through and is for the better. Being a parent can be so hard!
Running around after school
Ready for swim lessons
Reading before bed
We had just thrown up and bathed but after that in a good mood
