Riley.... 14 months and counting...

As I type that my daughter is 14 almost 15 months.. its makes me amazed. Where did all the time go? what happened to my precious baby that I used to rock to sleep at night? She is long gone and I have a beautiful toddler that is strong willed and extremely intelligent! Who would have thought that I would have a strong willed, stubborn child? Ha, I know right? Riley is certainly developing into her own and its so fun to see.. (at times frustrating as well). Riley is into everything.. most of the time the things that I do not want her into. Since she can walk (and Run) being confined is a thing of the past. She does not even like to take a break to nap! She is very attached to her mommy but I guess thats pretty normal at this stage. We are hearing from daycare that she plays rough... so we are working on getting her not to hit or slap. Luca takes the most of her abuse but when we catch her playing rough we correct her. I am not sure she knows why I am correcting her yet but she hates it and gets her feelings hurt and immediately cries. Being a parent can be so hard! We are also working on getting her to quit pulling hair. I think she is destined to be a hairdresser because she does love HAIR! She had a friend over yesterday and she was so sweet with her and played so well but on a few occasions I caught her sneaking to pull her hair. I am hopeful this is a phase and will pass! Tantrums are still here but they are manageable so far. I even caught some for the camera!
Riley... Are you supposed to be playing with the CD player?... No mom I am not touching it!

This is Riley on my leg... saying MA MA MA MA its the pre wine and if we do not respond, we go into tantrum

This is the beginning of the tantrum. She will then throw herself on the floor

The photo above was this past Friday morning before work. Justin thought Riley looked so cute in her Saints shirt he wanted to take a photo. This was a particularly difficult morning as Riley was not that cooperative and she has started unscrewing things so she spilled her brown liquid vitamins all over her new pottery barn chair and then my living room rug. So at this point I had already spent 20 min Resolving my rug and stripping the cover off her chair to wash it. The funny thing is when I was driving to work I looked in the rear view mirror and happened to notice, I forgot to finish putting my makeup on! First time I have ever done this but here I am with eyeliner on and no mascara. For people like me with clear eyelashes, this looks totally ridiculous! Needless to say I was late to work this morning for a number of reasons... one being I had to go to Walgreens and buy makeup. I would never have imagined I would do this, until I became a mom!

Riley loves her play phone. She picks it up and pretends to talk, then hands it to me to talk too.

She loves cooking dinner in her play pot!

This weekend was miserable with lots of rain. When it started to let up we got in the wagon and suited up to spend some time outside. Its hard being locked up with a toddler!

Riley and her best friend. Wherever Luca goes, Riley is right there with him.

She tries to ride him all the time! Poor dog, he has it so rough!

Poor Luca, she is always aggravating him!

I finally caught Riley before bath on film. Its pretty routine that before I put her in the bath she starts pulling books off her bookshelf and reads them to herself. She makes no sense but it seems like she understands!
