May 2020

May - lockdown is continuing around here and everyone is beginning to go stir crazy. At this point we have rotators that typically work 28 days in country and go home for 28 days that have been here for 60+ days. Our current boss is very introverted and wants us all to stay isolated in the community and keep to ourselves... that is really hard to do for long periods of time. Most of the residents prefer to interact and feel pretty safe doing so. At this point we have moved in all of our cooks and essential workers in the compound. The residents can only leave for essential services - Dr, grocery or pharmacy but most have not left. We are blessed with a grocery store here on the compound and they carry all the essentials so I literally have not left the compound. We are not allowing any visitors to the compound - the gates are closed with the exception of essential facilities workers (but they do not interact with residents). At this point the gym is closed and the restaurant is closed and no nanny's or housekeepers are allowed to enter. Kids are home and virtual learning so our COVID exposure seems to be pretty low. We live in nice homes but they are 2500 sq feet and it get get tight at times. Justin and I are doing our best managing our jobs, teaching the two kids, keeping our house clean and trying to avoid going crazy. Our life at this point is not pretty but hey, we have each other and are making the best of it!

The party that got us all in trouble. It was a pretty day and people congregated on a lawn. The boss drove by and all of us in management got in big trouble - it was a beautiful day in sakhalin and many needed the dose of normalcy

People were a but distanced... kinda?

Dinner - Russian Crab - DELICIOUS - this crab is $25 cooked

Rileys candy bar - she had to do a poster - her candy she named as the triple decker and picture of her poster above

We have some amazing Chefs here that cook for us and do all the ordering of all of the food and supplies we get here. They have done their best to stock our store with everything we want - even random American goods just to make sure we are happy. Two are from India (Sebastian and Alias) and they have been stuck here since December and February. They cannot see their families or enter their country. They typically rotate here and are not residents but they are not able to get home. We invited them over to celebrate their birthdays with us

The Ladies with Sebastian and Alias - also kneeling down is a Russian named Edward - he is typically a restaurant server but now he is quarantined in our neighborhood working at our store
